Akademeia is a student run peer-reviewed journal that will showcase outstanding original work. The journal will be published every six months, one volume and two issues per year (January and July). There will be four main sections, each pertaining to a single or group of particular academic disciplines. The sections include: Science, Technology, Society, Arts, and Theory
A variety of forms of formats will be available for presenting authors’ works. Reports will be the standard format for presenting the results of original research collected through the scientific method. However, recognizing that scientific thought can be stimulated at many stages, evidence-based predictions (and other ideas for which data has not yet been collected or cannot be collected) can be published in the form of a hypothesis. An essay format will be available for theses constructed in the social sciences and humanities. To fully embrace our desire to encourage communication between all disciplines, we will also encourage the submission of canvas, which will include images, videos and music. The peer-review and selection process for the arts will be developed through consultation with advisors from the Faculty of Arts.
Akademeia will consider submissions from students, trainees and faculty members from any department and will be committed to the promotion of interdisciplinary learning. Akademeia will aim to achieve a high standard of excellence and professionalism by impartial peer-review and stringent editorial and ethical standards. Acknowledging the paramount importance of experience and expertise in the process of peer-review, each submission will be assigned to at least one faculty reviewer. Publication decisions will be solely merit-based. This means the same standards will apply to undergraduate, graduate, post doc, and faculty submissions. No efforts will be taken to balance the % acceptance from these sources and reviewers will be blinded to the training level of each manuscript. To further facilitate the principle of merit-based publication, space limitations will be instituted and an appropriate production quota assigned to each section

A high quality peer-review committee is the most important part of a successful scholarly journal. If you have specialized training in any of the disciplines showcased in our journal, please consider offering your services as a peer-reviewer.
Akademeia will have both a Student Review Board and an Expert Review Board. Submissions will be assigned to the most qualified and appropriate student and expert reviewer available. If a suitable expert reviewer cannot be found on our list, the section editor will solicit an external one.
When your name has been selected, a section editor will contact you. If you agree to review the submission, you will be given 2-3 weeks to complete your review. A queue system will be implemented within the Student Review Board, so that the maximum number of students will have an opportunity to participate. Please refer to the Information for Reviewers for the Reviewer Enrollment Form and resources that can assist you in preparing a review. - Main Site
